Genealogy and references
The genealogy of the Levasseur, Borgia and Carmel families is the main activity of the Association. A few generations of genealogists have searched religious and civil registers in order to create a data base of dates for births, marriages, deaths and location that have all been verified in more than one source. We invite you to consult our data base for more information.
The sub-section Bibliography presents available sources that will enable you to learn more about your ancestors.
Census data remains the essential source of information for any person wanting to go further in their quest for information. Offered in the area Census, are some interesting links towards external data-bases of transcriptions of handwritten documents.
The section Toponymy offers different locations that carry the Levasseur (name) patronymic. Most of these locations signal the contributions by Levasseur pioneers in these parts of the country. Sections of geographical maps will be shown if you activate the corresponding link. The sources are principally from Toponymy Commission of Quebec
Suggestions to add to these different sections are always welcomed.
